Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered nursing care in the Transitional Care Unit using assessment-driven interventions
• Manage wound care, wound vac systems, and complex dressing changes with precision and compassion
• Perform enteral feeding, NG/G-tube and G-tube management, and tracheostomy care safely and efficiently
• Monitor and care for patients with chest tubes and maintain line care for PICC/Port devices
• Document thoroughly and accurately in Meditech EMR and use Pyxis for medication administration
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate safe transitions and quality outcomes
• Float to Med-Surg and Surgical Pediatrics when needed to support unit staffing and continuity of care
• Participate in orientation and unit-specific training to maintain competency and improve patient care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the State of Hawaii required by the start of the assignment (travelers must apply immediately upon offer if not currently licensed)
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience (2-10 years typical for this role) with Transitional Care, Med-Surg, or similar settings preferred
• BLS certification required prior to start; ACLS is not required for the unit unless your agency mandates it
• Experience with Meditech EMR and Pyxis preferred
• Demonstrated competence in wound care, enteral feeding, trach care, chest tube management, and PICC/Port care
• Flexibility to work varied shift lengths and float to other units as needed
• Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exception required before contract start

• Proficiency with Meditech EMR charting and medication administration workflows
• Wound vac operation and advanced wound care techniques
• Competence in enteral feeding, NG/G-tube, and tracheostomy care
• Chest tube management and vascular access care (PICC/Port)
• Effective communication and teamwork in interdisciplinary settings
• Time management, documentation accuracy, and infection control practices
