Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based Med/Surg and post-op spine/orthopedic nursing care to assigned patients
- Assess, monitor and document patient condition; recognize and escalate clinical changes promptly
- Deliver emergency department interventions and triage when needed, working collaboratively with the ED team
- Manage an assigned patient load consistent with a 1:5 patient ratio, prioritizing safety and quality
- Administer medications, perform treatments and follow post-op protocols for spine/ortho patients
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients and families to coordinate care plans
- Adhere to state and facility policies including infection control and COVID-19 vaccination requirements
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Colorado RN license (required)
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC (current)
- Med/Surg nursing experience with demonstrated competence
- Post-op spine/orthopedics patient experience required
- Emergency Department (ED) experience preferred
- Able to work holidays and adapt to facility staffing needs
- Willingness to comply with facility housing rules (no pets, no smoking)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making in Med/Surg and post-op settings
- Post-operative wound and pain management specific to spine/orthopedic patients
- ED triage fundamentals and emergency interventions
- Ability to manage assignments at a 1:5 patient ratio while maintaining documentation accuracy
- Familiarity with state vaccination mandates and infection prevention practices
- Clear communication, teamwork, and time management in a fast-paced environment
