Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage acute care patients quickly and accurately to prioritize life-saving interventions
• Monitor telemetry and recognize life-threatening rhythms, initiating appropriate responses
• Provide high-quality observation unit/PCU care including patient assessment and ongoing reassessment
• Perform unit procedures such as EKGs, peritoneal dialysis support, Foley insertion, dressing changes, and glucose monitoring
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and ensure smooth transitions
• Document patient care clearly and promptly in Meditech and use unit technology like Alaris pumps and Pyxis effectively
• Support unit flow and staffing by floating when needed and contributing to a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (eligible to work in Tennessee)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience (PCU/observation, telemetry, neuro or cardiac preferred)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale, and EKG rhythm certification
• Strong telemetry and cardiac rhythm recognition skills
• Experience with Meditech or similar electronic health record systems
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and adapting to rotating schedules

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage of acute care patients and rapid clinical decision-making
• Telemetry monitoring and life-threatening rhythm recognition
• Observation unit/PCU care and patient assessment best practices
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation workflows
• Hands-on experience with Alaris infusion pumps, Pyxis medication systems, B450 monitors, tele-tracking, and iMobile Communication
• Procedural skills including EKGs, peritoneal dialysis support, Foley insertion, dressing changes, and glucose monitoring
