Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality labor & delivery care for antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients with compassion and clinical excellence
• Perform and interpret intermediate fetal monitoring to support safe deliveries and timely interventions
• Manage OB triage assessments, prioritize care and escalate when needed to protect mom and baby
• Deliver couplet care — expertly caring for mother and newborn as a team
• Assist and circulate in OR for cesarean sections and support vaginal deliveries, epidurals, versions and other unit procedures
• Document care accurately and efficiently in CPN and Meditech to maintain clear clinical records
• Participate in bedside shift report and handoffs to ensure continuity and patient safety
• Support unit initiatives and innovation pilots that improve nurse workload and patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to work in Tennessee) — travel-friendly documentation welcome
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience (per job requirements)
• Certifications required: BLS, NRP, STABLE, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• Proven experience with OB triage, fetal monitoring and couplet care
• Comfortable assisting in OR (circulating) and performing/unit-supported procedures such as C/S and vaginal deliveries
• Strong communication skills and commitment to bedside shift report and patient experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Intermediate fetal monitoring (AWHONN Intermediate fetal monitoring credential)
• Hands-on L&D nursing skills: triage, couplet care, VBAC and high-acuity labor management
• Documentation expertise in CPN and Meditech
• Familiarity with GE fetal monitors and Novii systems
• Scheduling systems experience — Timpani scheduling
• Ability to work within established staffing ratios and follow unit policies (no floating)
