Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality Med-Surg nursing care to a 36-bed unit, managing patient assignments with skill and compassion
• Monitor telemetry and respond to cardiac changes promptly and confidently
• Perform unit procedures such as wound care, central line dressing changes, Foley insertion, drain management, and continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)
• Administer and document treatments accurately in Meditech Expanse, maintaining clear and timely records
• Conduct bedside shift report and hourly safety rounding to promote continuity of care and patient safety
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create personalized care plans and improve patient experience
• Maintain strong patient connections through education, advocacy, and compassionate communication

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state-specific licensure required for practice in NH)
• Minimum 2 years Med-Surg nursing experience preferred
• BLS certification required
• IV certification required (unit requirement)
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and performing EKGs as needed
• Experience with Meditech Expanse or similar electronic documentation systems preferred
• Demonstrated competency in wound care, Foley insertion, drain/chest tube management, and central line dressing changes

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med-Surg clinical judgment and patient assessment skills
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Proficient documentation practices in Meditech Expanse
• Skilled in wound care techniques and drainage management
• IV therapy skills and infusion management
• Effective communication for bedside handoffs and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Ability to work with patient ratios typically 1:6 (occasionally 1:7 during surges)
