Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Take and record vital signs accurately and promptly
- Provide compassionate personal care while preserving resident dignity
- Support safe transfers and fall-prevention measures
- Document care provided clearly in resident records and communicate changes to the care team
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including respirator and fit-test requirements
- Participate in Trinity specialty competency testing and unit-specific training
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team to support care plans and positive outcomes
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification in the state of Michigan (required)
- American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
- Successful License/Certificate Verification as part of onboarding
- Completion of Trinity specialty-specific competency testing prior to clinical shifts
- Ability to pass required health screens: fit test, 2-step PPD or IGRA, Trinity 10-panel drug screen, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, and COVID-19 vaccine documentation
- Comfort working in a per diem pool with flexibility to cover varied shifts
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Completion of an approved CNA training program (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient-centered care and compassion for older adults
- Basic clinical skills: bathing, feeding, ambulation, toileting, and skin care
- Accurate vital sign collection and documentation
- Infection control practices and PPE use (including respirator protocols)
- Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks in a busy unit
- Clear verbal and written communication with residents and care teams
- Ability to follow care plans and escalate concerns appropriately
