Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming
- Measure and record vital signs, monitor condition changes, and promptly report concerns to the care team
- Assist with safe transfers, mobility, and positioning to promote comfort and prevent injury
- Follow individualized care plans and document care accurately and timely
- Maintain infection control practices and uphold a safe, sanitary environment
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to support coordinated care
- Promote dignity, independence, and emotional support for residents and participants
- Respond calmly and appropriately to emergencies as trained
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification in Alabama or equivalent compact/state certification
- BLS/CPR certification (current)
- Up-to-date immunizations: MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, COVID-19, Influenza
- Completed physical/health statement and negative Trinity 10 Panel drug screen
- Ability to pass background and required screenings
- Previous experience in long-term care, home health, or hospice preferred but not required
- Reliable transportation and flexible availability for per-diem assignments
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an approved CNA training program and active CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic patient care techniques
- Clear, compassionate communication and strong interpersonal skills
- Basic charting and documentation skills with attention to detail
- Infection prevention, universal precautions, and safe handling practices
- Good time management and ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment
- Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity when supporting diverse populations
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a care team
