Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate basic care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance
- Assist with activities of daily living and promote resident independence when possible
- Monitor and record vital signs and report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Maintain a safe and clean environment following infection control practices
- Communicate with residents and families with respect and empathy
- Document care accurately in the assigned charting system and follow facility policies
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support resident-centered care plans
Qualifications
- Valid CNA certification in the state of Connecticut
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and required competency verification
- Successful Trinity 10-panel drug screen and Trinity respirator evaluation with fit test
- License/certificate verification as required by the facility
- Up-to-date immunizations and health screenings (2-step PPD or IGRA, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap, COVID-19, Influenza, physical/health statement)
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
- Reliable, compassionate, and patient-focused attitude with strong teamwork skills
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with activities of daily living and resident assistance
- Basic knowledge of infection prevention and standard precautions
- Ability to take and accurately record vital signs
- Familiarity with electronic or paper charting systems
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Time management and prioritization in fast-paced clinical settings
- Comfort working within a team and following care plans
