Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts (night shift schedule, specific start/end times vary by unit), every other weekend (EOW); may be asked to work occasional day shifts; rotating holiday coverage with core staff

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert neonatal intensive care for Level III NICU patients, including ELBW infants
- Attend deliveries and complete NICU admissions, supporting newborn transition and observation
- Manage respiratory support equipment such as high-flow nasal cannula, bubble CPAP, NIPPV and ventilators
- Perform invasive neonatal procedures and management including UVC, UAC and chest tube care
- Follow AWHONN staffing and clinical guidelines to maintain safe nurse:patient ratios (typically 1:2, occasional 1:1)
- Collaborate with neonatology providers and coordinate phone consults with partner centers when needed
- Assist Mother Baby staff as a resource nurse for tasks like labs, circumcisions, CCHD and car seat studies
- Document care accurately in MEDITECH and participate in unit quality and safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Texas (must be in good standing)
- Minimum 2 full years of Level III or IV NICU experience
- Required certifications up to date before onsite: BLS, NRP-advanced, STABLE
- Proven proficiency with NC, HFNC, BCPAP, vents, chest tubes, UVC, UAC and care of ELBW infants
- Delivery experience highly preferred
- Comfortable following AWHONN guidelines and working with neonatal teams and respiratory therapy
- Willingness to float to Mother Baby as needed and assist with newborn procedures and admissions
Education
- Active RN license (state licensure required)
- BSN not required (listed as no), BSN preferred but not mandatory
Knowledge & Skills
- Neonatal ICU nursing and couplet care best practices
- Ventilator management and advanced respiratory support (HFNC, BCPAP, NIPPV, vents)
- Neonatal resuscitation and STABLE stabilization principles
- Procedural skills: UVC, UAC placement knowledge and chest tube management
- Familiarity with MEDITECH charting system
- Ability to prioritize in high-acuity settings and follow AWHONN staffing guidelines
- Strong communication and teamwork with neonatologists, RTs andMother Baby staff
