Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate bedside care for residents at the Pocahontas Center with professionalism and heart
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and document care in a timely manner
- Monitor resident condition, report changes promptly, and collaborate with the care team to adjust plans
- Perform routine assessments and support activities of daily living to maintain resident dignity
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers while ensuring continuity of care
- Support infection control practices and maintain a safe, clean environment for residents
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure in West Virginia or eligible for WV licensure
- CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Comfortable working 12-hour evening/night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused mindset
- Previous long-term care or skilled nursing experience preferred but new grads with clinical experience encouraged to apply
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program (LPN/LVN certificate or diploma)
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication administration and accurate charting
- Basic nursing assessments and vital sign monitoring
- Wound care fundamentals and safe patient handling
- Familiarity with electronic health records and timely documentation
- Infection prevention and facility safety protocols
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and stay calm in fast-paced situations
