Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions under the direction of a licensed physical therapist to help patients regain mobility and independence
• Deliver therapeutic exercise programs, gait training, transfers and functional activities with safety and empathy
• Document patient treatments, progress and response to interventions accurately in the patient record
• Collaborate proactively with the interdisciplinary care team to support patient-centered goals
• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, fall prevention and safe mobility techniques
• Maintain equipment, treatment areas, and infection-control standards to ensure patient safety

Qualifications

• Active Physical Therapy Assistant license or certification as required by California
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Ability to pass license/certificate verification and required health screenings (TB, drug screen, immunizations, fit test, etc.)
• Previous experience as a PTA in acute care, hospital, outpatient or skilled nursing settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Education

• Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (or equivalent)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic exercise, gait training and patient handling techniques
• Familiarity with documentation best practices and electronic health records
• Knowledge of infection control, safety protocols and patient mobility equipment
• Good clinical reasoning, time management and patient education skills
• Comfort working with diverse patient populations and varying acuity levels
