Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide primary nursing care for emergency department patients through assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation
- Collaborate with families and the interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care
- Perform timely triage and emergency nursing interventions consistent with ANA standards
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in competency testing and skill verification
- Ensure patient safety by maintaining current certifications and following facility infection control and vaccination policies
- Communicate clearly in English with patients, families and team members to coordinate care
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for the State of Rhode Island (must maintain throughout assignment)
- Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications and NIH Stroke Certification as listed
- Completion of CNE competency/checklist items (Skills Checklist, Specialty/Basic EKG/Pharmacology/Core Competencies)
- Emergency Department (ED) experience preferred; night shift and 12-hour shift experience highly desired
- Fit test and required vaccinations (COVID, Influenza, Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap) or documented exemption process
- Proficiency in English and ability to perform under fast-paced ED conditions
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in patient assessment, care planning, nursing intervention and evaluation
- Experience with primary nursing care and family-centered collaboration
- Basic EKG knowledge and pharmacology awareness for ED practice
- Comfortable with CNE competency testing and documentation workflows
- Ability to work independently on night shifts and escalate appropriately
- Familiarity with Nursys license verification and compliance processes
