Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, supporting activities of daily living with dignity and respect
- Assist with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and toileting to promote comfort and safety
- Monitor and record vital signs and resident conditions, escalating changes to nursing staff promptly
- Accurately document care, observations, and interventions in the resident record
- Support infection prevention and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents and coworkers
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
- Build trusting relationships with residents and families, focusing on person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (Class: CNA) — New Mexico certification preferred
- Completion of an approved CNA training program
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtainable upon hire
- Ability to safely perform patient transfers and assist with mobility
- Comfort working the scheduled night shifts (5:00 PM - 5:00 AM) and reliable attendance
- Strong communication skills, compassion, and a teamwork mindset
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of a state-approved CNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
- Knowledgeable about taking and documenting vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with basic infection control practices and safety procedures
- Ability to maintain accurate, timely documentation and follow care plans
- Good observational skills to notice and report changes in resident status
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and care teams
