Roles & Responsibilities
- Independently perform high-quality mammography, diagnostic X-ray, and bone density exams with accuracy and care
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment safely, following radiation safety protocols and quality control procedures
- Review requisitions to determine proper room setup and appropriate imaging views for each patient
- Evaluate image quality and repeat studies when clinically necessary to ensure diagnostic confidence
- Perform scheduled quality control checks to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
- Train and precept employees and students, serving as a positive role model on the team
- Collaborate and communicate proactively with radiologists, schedulers, and other departments to streamline patient access
- Utilize RIS, PACS and CIS systems competently for exam documentation and image management
- Participate in continuing education activities to stay current with best practices
Qualifications
- ARRT certification (required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
- Active licensure/certification as a Radiologic Technologist per state requirements (license verification required)
- Demonstrated competency in mammography, diagnostic X-ray, and bone density imaging
- Familiarity with RIS, PACS and clinical information systems
- Compliant with facility health requirements (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza vaccine, TB screen or IGRA, Varicella, Tdap, fit test)
- Strong communication skills and experience training or precepting students or staff
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program or equivalent (program completion preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in mammography positioning and image evaluation
- Proficient operation of X-ray and bone density equipment
- Knowledge of radiation safety and quality control practices
- Experience with RIS, PACS and CIS workflows
- Ability to evaluate diagnostic films and ensure study quality
- Strong patient-care and communication skills
- Comfort teaching and mentoring technologists and students
- Good troubleshooting and equipment operation skills
