Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care in a fast-paced emergency setting
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care and adjust as patients progress
- Perform nursing interventions and evaluate outcomes to ensure high-quality patient care
- Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC to maintain clear communication and continuity
- Collaborate with physicians, techs, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate timely treatment
- Provide safe patient lifting, transfer, and transport with attention to dignity and safety
- Maintain CPR and specialty certifications and participate in competency testing
- Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in Rhode Island (required)
- Experience in Emergency Medicine and familiarity with ED workflows
- EPIC experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- NIH Stroke Scale certification
- COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations required per facility policy
- Ability to lift/assist patients and transport them safely
- Proficiency in English and strong communication skills
- Successful completion of CNE skills checklist and specialty competency exams as required
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and triage in emergency settings
- Care planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record
- Basic and advanced cardiac life support (BLS/ACLS) skills
- Pediatric advanced life support (PALS) knowledge
- Basic EKG interpretation and pharmacology awareness
- Infection control practices and immunization requirements
- Safe patient handling and transport techniques
