Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality ultrasonic imaging in OB/GYN, abdominal, neurosonology, and ophthalmic areas
- Apply sonic energy safely to assist in diagnosis or treatment while maintaining professional judgment
- Demonstrate anatomy for interpretation or intervention at the request of the licensed practitioner
- Provide compassionate patient care, including positioning, explanation of procedures, and monitoring patient comfort
- Maintain imaging equipment, ensure image quality, and document procedures accurately
- Collaborate with licensed practitioners and clinical staff to support diagnostic goals
- Float to other departments as needed to support patient care and departmental needs
Qualifications
- Graduate of a CAHEA accredited sonography program or equivalent
- Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or equivalent approved certification
- Licensed in the State of Oregon as an Ultrasonographer or as a Radiologic Technologist/Sonographer
- Strong patient care and communication skills with professional bedside manner
- Ability and willingness to float to other departments where qualified
Education
- Graduate of a Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited sonography program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in ultrasonic imaging procedures and sonography techniques
- Solid anatomy knowledge for image interpretation and demonstration
- Competence in OB/GYN and abdominal imaging protocols
- Familiarity with neurosonology and ophthalmic sonography procedures
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot sonography equipment
- Safety-conscious approach and adherence to clinical ethics
- Teamwork and cross-department adaptability
