Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional perinatal nursing care for laboring and postpartum patients, keeping safety and comfort front and center
- Monitor fetal status using fetal heart monitoring and act decisively on concerning tracings
- Perform neonatal resuscitation following NRP advanced provider protocols when needed
- Deliver clear, compassionate education to families about labor, delivery and newborn care
- Collaborate with OB providers, neonatology and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate timely interventions
- Document care accurately and thoroughly (EPIC experience is a plus)
- Implement STABLE principles for newborn stabilization and transition of care
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or ability to obtain licensure in Colorado prior to start
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a perinatal RN
- Basic Life Support (BLS) — may be obtained upon hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) — Advanced Provider
- Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) Intermediate
- STABLE learner certification
- Ability to safely function at high elevation (Aspen sits around 8,000 feet); must be healthy for low-oxygen environments
- Preferred: BSN or MSN in Nursing, EPIC experience, bilingual Spanish
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Master's (MSN) also preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in fetal heart monitoring interpretation and response
- Strong neonatal resuscitation and stabilization skills (NRP, STABLE)
- Excellent patient education and communication skills with families
- Comfortable with electronic documentation (EPIC preferred)
- Ability to prioritize and respond in urgent perinatal situations
- Cultural sensitivity and, ideally, Spanish language ability to support bilingual patients
