Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and perform CT scanning procedures using advanced CT equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images
- Prepare patients by verifying identity, obtaining relevant history and allergy information, and explaining procedures to reduce anxiety
- Safely administer IV contrast media per Radiologist protocol and monitor patients for adverse reactions
- Position and transfer patients using proper lifting and immobilization techniques to ensure safety and image accuracy
- Capture, store and transfer digital images using Cerner and departmental systems, maintaining excellent image quality
- Perform daily calibration, quality control and routine maintenance checks to ensure equipment reliability
- Assist Radiologists with specialized procedures and support imaging needs across a Level II Trauma Center
- Participate in quality improvement activities, documentation, and registry maintenance to support excellent patient care
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked work area and manage supplies to support uninterrupted operations
- Train and mentor new personnel to help build a skilled, cohesive imaging team
Qualifications
- ARRT certification (required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
- Clinical experience in CT scanning and IV contrast administration
- Comfortable working in a Level II Trauma Center environment and responding to emergencies including basic CPR
- Familiarity with Cerner or similar electronic medical record systems
- Strong patient care skills, including safe lifting/transfer and clear communication
- Commitment to radiation safety and adherence to Michigan Department of Public Health regulations
- Registry maintenance and adherence to regulatory requirements
Education
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program or CT-specific training
- ARRT certification required; additional CT coursework or certification preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in CT scanning workflow, image acquisition and image quality assurance
- IV contrast preparation and safe administration techniques
- Digital imaging systems, image capture, storage and transfer processes
- Quality control procedures and daily equipment calibration
- Patient identification, history taking and positioning best practices
- Radiation safety standards and compliance
- Basic emergency response skills and CPR
- Familiarity with Level II Trauma Center protocols and fast-paced imaging demands
