Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver client-centered rehabilitative interventions under the direction of the OTR to help patients regain independence
• Implement treatment plans and adapt therapeutic activities to meet each patient’s goals
• Document patient progress accurately and timely, ensuring clear communication with the care team
• Collaborate with nursing and rehab staff to coordinate care and optimize outcomes
• Educate patients and families on adaptive strategies, home programs, and safe functional techniques
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Current certification/registration per state requirements and ability to meet facility credentialing standards
• Minimum clinical experience working in rehabilitation or skilled nursing settings is preferred
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused approach
• Reliable, professional, and able to adapt to a fast-paced rehab environment

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent program completion

Knowledge & Skills

• Foundational knowledge of therapeutic interventions, adaptive equipment, and ADL training
• Skilled in patient assessment, documentation, and treatment planning support
• Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, and support staff
• Good time management and organizational skills to manage caseload and documentation
• Comfortable working with geriatric and medically complex patients in a rehab setting
