Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver client-centered rehabilitative interventions under the direction of the OTR to help patients regain independence
- Implement treatment plans and adapt therapeutic activities to meet each patient’s goals
- Document patient progress accurately and timely, ensuring clear communication with the care team
- Collaborate with nursing and rehab staff to coordinate care and optimize outcomes
- Educate patients and families on adaptive strategies, home programs, and safe functional techniques
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
- Current certification/registration per state requirements and ability to meet facility credentialing standards
- Minimum clinical experience working in rehabilitation or skilled nursing settings is preferred
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-focused approach
- Reliable, professional, and able to adapt to a fast-paced rehab environment
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent program completion
Knowledge & Skills
- Foundational knowledge of therapeutic interventions, adaptive equipment, and ADL training
- Skilled in patient assessment, documentation, and treatment planning support
- Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, therapists, and support staff
- Good time management and organizational skills to manage caseload and documentation
- Comfortable working with geriatric and medically complex patients in a rehab setting
