Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing function for residents
- Develop individualized treatment plans that focus on meaningful, measurable outcomes
- Implement evidence-based therapy to improve communication and swallowing safety
- Document progress and maintain timely, thorough clinical notes in the facility EHR
- Collaborate with nursing, PT/OT and caregivers to coordinate resident-centered care
- Educate staff and families on carry-over strategies and safe swallowing techniques
- Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary meetings to support quality outcomes
Qualifications
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Texas
- Experience providing SLP services in a skilled nursing/long-term care or rehab setting preferred
- Comfortable managing dysphagia evaluations and treatment
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team
Education
- Master's or clinical degree in Speech-Language Pathology (preferred/typical requirement for SLP roles)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing assessment
- Experience with individualized treatment planning and outcome measurement
- Proficient documentation and familiarity with clinical charting/EHR systems
- Ability to train and educate staff and family caregivers
- Strong clinical reasoning, time management and caseload prioritization
