Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality cardiopulmonary care in line with physician orders and department protocols
• Administer respiratory therapy treatments and monitor patients for effectiveness and side effects
• Set up, manage, and monitor mechanical ventilators and perform associated critical care duties
• Perform airway management and tracheal suctioning with precision and patient comfort in mind
• Maintain knowledge and safe operation of oxygen delivery systems and associated equipment
• Conduct ongoing patient assessment, document clinical findings, and communicate changes to the care team
• Adhere to infection control standards and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
• Stand and walk for extended periods while delivering hands-on respiratory care

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in Illinois or eligible to obtain state licensure
• Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program (Associate or equivalent)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Comfortable and experienced with mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, airway management, and tracheal suctioning
• Ability to work rotating weekends and participate in on-call schedule
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams

Education

• Associate degree or completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on experience with mechanical ventilators and ventilator setup/monitoring
• Understanding of oxygen delivery methods and related equipment
• Proficient in airway management techniques and tracheal suctioning
• Cardiopulmonary assessment and critical care monitoring
• Infection control practices and safety protocols
• Quick decision-making in emergency airway management situations
