Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to elderly residents, supporting dignity and independence
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding)
• Perform safe transfers and ambulation assistance, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Monitor resident condition and report changes promptly to the licensed nursing staff
• Document care accurately and thoroughly in the resident record
• Support mealtime and hydration needs, including assistance with feeding when required
• Maintain a clean, safe and respectful environment for residents
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to follow and support individualized care plans

Qualifications

• Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent as required by Maryland
• Current CPR/BCLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Ability to pass facility-required background check and drug screening
• Comfort and experience working night shifts and with geriatric populations
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
• Physical ability to perform resident transfers and sustained periods of standing/walking

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a GNA training program and state certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in activities of daily living (ADLs) assistance and safe transfer techniques
• Infection control practices and proper PPE use
• Basic vital sign measurement and observation/reporting of clinical changes
• Accurate charting and attention to detail
• Compassionate interpersonal skills and de-escalation techniques
