Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to older adults, helping them maintain dignity and independence
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support safe mobility and transfers while using proper body mechanics
• Observe and document resident status, behaviors, and changes; communicate these to the nursing team
• Help maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for residents
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through clear, respectful communication
• Participate in care plan implementation and team huddles to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) — Maryland certification required or active in-state registration
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Previous experience working with geriatric or long-term care populations preferred
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility
• Ability to pass background checks and any required health screenings
• Reliable, professional attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Resident-centered care and empathy for older adults
• Assistance with ADLs and basic personal care
• Basic infection control practices and safe patient handling
• Observation skills for reporting changes in condition
• Basic documentation and charting skills; comfort using electronic records or paper charts
• Teamwork, time management, and clear communication with residents and staff
