Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team promptly
- Support safe transfers and mobility using proper techniques to prevent injury
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and handoffs to the care team
- Follow infection control and safety protocols to protect residents and staff
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents and their families about daily needs
- Collaborate with nurses and other caregivers to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state-recognized equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Able to pass background check and meet facility health and immunization requirements
- Comfortable working with older adults, including those with dementia or mobility challenges
- Strong teamwork mindset and reliable attendance for scheduled shifts
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and personal care
- Knowledge of safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Ability to take and document vital signs accurately
- Familiarity with basic infection control practices
- Good observation skills and the ability to report changes in condition
- Kind, patient communication with residents and families
