Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care that preserves dignity and independence
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
- Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor residents’ condition and report changes promptly to nursing staff
- Accurately document care provided, vitals, and any notable observations
- Follow infection control procedures and facility safety protocols
- Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or equivalent (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Demonstrated experience working with older adults or in long-term care settings preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with residents and families
- Ability to pass facility background checks and meet state health requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited GNA training program or state-approved certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) assistance and mobility support
- Skilled in basic resident care: bathing, toileting, feeding, and grooming
- Comfortable taking and recording vital signs and observing changes in condition
- Familiarity with infection control practices and safe patient handling
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach and solid teamwork skills
