Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
- Monitor and document resident conditions, reporting changes to nursing staff
- Support meal times and ensure dietary needs are respected
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to deliver consistent care
- Engage residents in social activities and support emotional well-being
Qualifications
- GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and recommended immunizations
- Strong communication skills and a patient, respectful bedside manner
- Previous experience in geriatric or long-term care environments is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA/CNA certification (state-recognized) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care and common age-related conditions
- Skillful assistance with ADLs and safe patient transfers
- Accurate documentation and attention to detail
- Familiarity with infection control practices and resident safety
- Comfortable working as part of a collaborative care team
