Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents to promote dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
- Monitor residents’ condition and report changes to nursing staff promptly
- Take and record vital signs accurately and document care in resident charts
- Support safe mobility and transfer assistance following care plans
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control procedures
- Build trusting relationships with residents and their families through respectful communication
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or state equivalent (required)
- Ability to pass background and health screenings as required by facility
- Comfort working with elderly populations and a compassionate bedside manner
- Basic documentation and charting skills; attention to detail when recording care
- Reliable attendance and ability to follow assigned shift schedule
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamental knowledge of geriatric care principles and ADLs
- Comfortable with vital signs, basic infection control, and safe resident transfers
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with nursing staff and families
- Observational skills to notice and report changes in resident condition
- Organizational skills to manage tasks and documentation during a shift
