Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, promoting dignity and independence
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Monitor and document resident conditions, reporting changes promptly to the nursing team
- Support safe mobility and transfers with proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility procedures to protect residents and staff
- Engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities to support emotional wellbeing
- Collaborate with nursing staff to help implement individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Current state registration or ability to obtain state-required credentials
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings/immunizations
- Dependable, compassionate, and comfortable working a night shift schedule
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care needs and best practices
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and basic resident hygiene
- Familiarity with documentation and reporting procedures
- Understanding of infection control and resident safety principles
- Good observational skills and ability to escalate clinical concerns appropriately
- Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered approach
