Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care and personal support to residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly
- Help with safe transfers and use proper body mechanics when assisting residents
- Document care given and observations accurately and timely
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents' comfort and dignity
- Collaborate with the care team to create a positive, therapeutic environment
Qualifications
- GNA certification or state equivalent required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience with geriatric or long-term care preferred
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the role including safe resident handling
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused support
- Basic vital signs and observation skills
- Accurate documentation and charting practices
- Infection control and safety awareness
- Good interpersonal skills and patience with older adults
- Time management and the ability to follow care plans
