Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting)
• Assist residents with mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Record accurate documentation of care, resident status, and meal intake
• Support dining and feeding assistance, including special dietary needs
• Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote resident dignity and quality of life

Qualifications

• Valid GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
• Previous experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required
• Up-to-date immunizations per facility requirements
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, resident-centered approach

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in ADLs support and safe transfer techniques
• Familiarity with infection prevention and control practices
• Basic vital signs monitoring and reporting
• Comfortable with documentation and charting (paper or electronic)
• Ability to work independently during night shift and escalate concerns appropriately
• Good teamwork and interpersonal skills with residents and family members
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced care setting
