Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents by assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, mobility and toileting)
• Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff to help ensure safety and timely care
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Support mealtime needs and document intake to help maintain resident nutrition and hydration
• Maintain clean, safe and dignified living spaces while upholding infection control standards
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families, delivering person-centered care with respect and empathy

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or completion of an approved GNA program
• Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification is encouraged if available
• Comfortable assisting with transfers, ADLs and basic patient care
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited GNA program

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of resident-centered care and dignity-focused practice
• Basic knowledge of infection control and safety procedures
• Ability to take and record vital signs and observe behavioral or physical changes
• Good documentation skills and familiarity with care reporting
• Calm, patient approach to working with older adults and those with cognitive changes
