Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
• Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive proper nutrition
• Maintain accurate resident documentation and handoff communication
• Observe infection control practices and promote a safe environment
• Build trusting relationships with residents and their families

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) preferred or willing to obtain
• Prior experience caring for older adults or in a long-term care setting preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Proof of required immunizations and background checks as per facility policy
• Reliable, punctual, and dedicated to delivering high-quality resident care

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and mobility support
• Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Basic understanding of documentation practices and patient charts
• Infection control, safety protocols, and equipment use
• Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills for resident-centered care
• Ability to follow care plans and receive direction from RNs/LPNs
