Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care for older adults, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes promptly to the nursing team
- Support mealtime and feeding assistance while encouraging dignity and independence
- Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team
- Assist with activities of daily living and therapeutic activities that promote engagement
- Accurately document care and follow facility policies and infection control standards
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or state-approved nursing assistant credential
- CPR/BLS certification (current) or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Previous experience caring for older adults preferred but new grads are welcome with strong training completion
- Comfortable with basic patient transfers and mobility assistance
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach
- Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a state-approved GNA training program or nursing assistant coursework
Knowledge & Skills
- Fundamentals of geriatric care and dignity-preserving assistance
- Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
- Knowledge of infection control and safe handling procedures
- Good documentation practices and attention to detail
- Teamwork mindset and the ability to follow care plans
- Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills with older adults and families
