Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered personal care to geriatric patients with dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting and feeding
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Observe and accurately report changes in condition to licensed nursing staff
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and follow facility policies and care plans
- Practice infection control and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver consistent, high-quality care
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- Valid state certification or registration as required by Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or able to obtain promptly
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening per facility policy
- Clear background check and ability to pass required health screenings
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills and ability to work nights
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with elder care and ADLs
- Basic vital signs and observational skills
- Infection prevention and safe handling techniques
- Accurate charting and documentation practices
- Teamwork, time management and respectful communication with residents and families
- Ability to follow care plans and direction from licensed nurses
