Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults, preserving dignity and independence
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility)
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output and any changes in condition accurately
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Document care and observations clearly and promptly in the facility system
• Communicate effectively with nurses, families and the care team to coordinate excellent care
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to keep residents safe

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent in the practicing state
• Active BLS/CPR certification as required by the facility (check state/facility policy)
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen and required immunizations
• Comfortable working with geriatric populations and skilled at compassionate, respectful care
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team

Education

• GNA certification required
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADLs and resident assistance with dignity and patience
• Knowledge of basic vital signs and early recognition of changes in condition
• Familiarity with infection control, safe resident handling and documentation best practices
• Good time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
• Empathy, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team
