Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered care that preserves dignity and independence
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding)
- Support mobility and safe transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly
- Document care accurately and thoroughly following facility policies
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver consistent, high-quality care
- Help create a warm, home-like environment and engage residents in meaningful activities
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or obtained upon hire
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-focused attitude
- Physical ability to perform resident care duties and safe lifting protocols
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of resident-centered care principles and geriatric needs
- Familiarity with ADLs, transfers, and safe resident handling
- Understanding of infection control and basic medication observation
- Comfortable with electronic or paper documentation systems
- Teamwork mindset and ability to communicate effectively with residents and families
