Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Provide compassionate hands-on care and emotional support to older adults
• Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
• Accurately document care provided and resident observations in charts
• Support therapeutic activities and engage residents to promote independence
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (required) — your core credential for this role
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfort working in long-term care or geriatric settings; previous experience is a plus
• Ability to follow care plans, safely assist with transfers, and use appropriate lifting techniques
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach
• Ability to pass facility background checks and meet health screening requirements

Education

• High school diploma or GED; GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and ADL support
• Skill in safe resident transfers, mobility assistance, and fall prevention
• Familiarity with infection control practices and proper PPE use
• Good documentation habits and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and care teams
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced long-term care environment
