Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Provide compassionate hands-on care and emotional support to older adults
- Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
- Accurately document care provided and resident observations in charts
- Support therapeutic activities and engage residents to promote independence
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- GNA certification (required) — your core credential for this role
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfort working in long-term care or geriatric settings; previous experience is a plus
- Ability to follow care plans, safely assist with transfers, and use appropriate lifting techniques
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach
- Ability to pass facility background checks and meet health screening requirements
Education
- High school diploma or GED; GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and ADL support
- Skill in safe resident transfers, mobility assistance, and fall prevention
- Familiarity with infection control practices and proper PPE use
- Good documentation habits and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and care teams
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced long-term care environment
