Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Take and record vital signs, observe changes, and report concerns to the nursing team
• Provide compassionate companionship and promote dignity and independence
• Follow individualized care plans and document care accurately and timely
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control standards
• Communicate effectively with nurses, interdisciplinary team members, and families
• Participate in care planning and contribute meaningful observations to improve resident outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (or equivalent state certification)
• Completion of a state-approved GNA program or validated training
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working with elderly residents, including those with cognitive impairment
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Reliable, compassionate, and a strong team player

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a GNA training program or equivalent state-approved coursework

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-focused caregiving
• Safe patient handling and mobility assistance skills
• Accurate documentation and charting abilities
• Strong observational skills to notice subtle changes in resident condition
• Effective verbal communication and teamwork
• Basic infection control and safety practices
