Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients using evidence-based OT evaluations to identify functional needs and goals
- Design and implement individualized treatment plans to improve independence in ADLs and participation
- Provide skilled interventions using adaptive equipment and therapeutic activities to promote recovery
- Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs, and caregivers to coordinate holistic, patient-centered care
- Document thoroughly and timely in the facility EMR to support continuity and outcomes tracking
- Educate patients and families to enable safe transitions and promote long-term progress
- Monitor progress and modify treatment plans to meet changing patient needs and facility goals
Qualifications
- Current Virginia Occupational Therapy license or eligibility to obtain VA licensure
- OTR/L credential preferred or equivalent clinical certification
- Experience in inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or outpatient rehab preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Able to pass facility onboarding and background checks for travel clinicians
Education
- Master's or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (MSOT, OTD) or equivalent entry-level OT degree
Knowledge & Skills
- Thorough knowledge of ADL retraining, adaptive equipment and compensatory strategies
- Skilled in therapeutic use of occupations and activity analysis
- Proficient with clinical documentation and electronic medical records
- Strong interpersonal and team communication skills
- Ability to prioritize caseload and provide efficient, high-quality care
- Experience with discharge planning and caregiver education
