Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions under the supervision of a Physical Therapist
• Deliver evidence-based care using manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, modalities, ambulation training and assistive devices
• Assess patient progress and communicate treatment adjustments clearly to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Accurately document all clinically and regulatory-required information in the electronic medical record
• Record treatment minutes precisely and maintain patient records according to policy
• Report treatment outcomes and contribute input for discharge summaries
• Participate in care conferences, utilization review, and rehabilitation team meetings
• Support patients, families and caregivers through education and counseling related to functional needs
• Coordinate DME/supplies with supervising PT as needed
• Supervise and mentor students under the guidance of the Physical Therapist

Qualifications

• Active PTA license (Missouri) — state licensure required
• Minimum 1 year PTA clinical experience (LTC or Rehab experience required)
• Comfortable documenting in electronic medical records and meeting productivity expectations
• Ability to work under the supervision and direction of a Physical Therapist and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with APTA standards, state practice acts, and professional ethics
• Willingness to participate in facility-required trainings and meetings
• Ability to supervise students and support clinical education when needed

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Associate degree or equivalent)
• Current state PTA licensure (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled rehabilitative patient treatment and outcome reporting
• Manual techniques, therapeutic exercise prescription and progression
• Use and training with assistive/supportive devices and DME coordination
• Experience with modalities and ambulation training
• Strong communication with supervising PT and interdisciplinary team
• Accurate electronic documentation and treatment-minute recording
• Discharge planning participation and familiarity with Medicare A/B and managed care
• Ability to meet productivity targets and manage a variable caseload
