Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care for geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
• Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
• Document care and observations accurately and in a timely manner
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care

Qualifications

• Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
• Comfortable assisting with mobility and lifting per facility policies
• Strong communication skills and a calm, patient-centered approach
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and best practices
• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
• Basic vital signs and documentation skills
• Infection prevention and control awareness
• Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary care team
• Good time management and prioritization in a busy care environment
• Empathy and de-escalation techniques for residents with cognitive impairment
