Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care for geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
- Document care and observations accurately and in a timely manner
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
- Comfortable assisting with mobility and lifting per facility policies
- Strong communication skills and a calm, patient-centered approach
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and best practices
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
- Basic vital signs and documentation skills
- Infection prevention and control awareness
- Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary care team
- Good time management and prioritization in a busy care environment
- Empathy and de-escalation techniques for residents with cognitive impairment
