Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct, compassionate care to geriatric patients, supporting activities of daily living with dignity
• Assist nursing staff with routine tasks such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility
• Monitor and document patient condition changes, reporting concerns promptly to the RN
• Support safe transfers and fall-prevention measures to keep patients secure
• Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary communication to deliver coordinated care
• Maintain a clean, respectful environment and follow infection control protocols
• Engage with residents and families to create a warm, reassuring experience

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (or equivalent state-recognized nursing assistant certification)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience working with older adults is a plus — compassion matters most
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility policy
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an accredited GNA or nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
• Familiarity with basic patient mobility and transfer techniques
• Basic documentation skills and attention to detail
• Understanding of infection prevention and safety protocols
• Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills for working with seniors
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary care team
