Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) for geriatric residents
- Assist with mobility, transfers, bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting while preserving dignity
- Take and record basic vital signs and report any changes in condition to the nursing team
- Support resident participation in therapy and rehabilitation activities as directed
- Document care accurately and communicate clearly with nurses, therapists, and families
- Maintain a safe, clean environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Act as a patient advocate and build trusting relationships with residents and their families
- Contribute to a positive team culture by assisting colleagues and participating in care planning
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Prior experience with geriatric or long-term care populations is a plus
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required by facility
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a GNA/CNA training program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of resident care standards, ADLs, and basic clinical tasks
- Skills in safe resident handling and transfer techniques
- Ability to record accurate documentation and follow care plans
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well on a multidisciplinary team
- Awareness of infection control, safety procedures, and resident rights
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs in a busy setting
