Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, supporting activities of daily living with dignity and respect
- Assist nursing staff with resident transfers, mobility support, and safe patient handling
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the clinical team promptly
- Follow individualized care plans and document care accurately and professionally
- Support mealtime assistance and safe feeding practices, including monitoring dietary needs
- Foster a warm, respectful environment that promotes resident comfort, independence, and social engagement
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state equivalent
- CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Comfortable working with elderly populations and a patient, respectful bedside manner
- Ability to pass facility background and health screenings as required
- Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred but enthusiastic new grads are welcome
Education
- High school diploma or GED; GNA certification or equivalent required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and safe patient handling
- Basic clinical skills: vitals, ADL assistance, infection control practices
- Strong communication skills with residents, families, and care teams
- Ability to follow care plans and document observations accurately
- Teamwork mindset and flexibility in a fast-paced care environment
