Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, respectful care to geriatric residents and support their daily living activities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility and feeding while preserving dignity
- Monitor and record vital signs and changes in condition, communicating observations to nursing staff
- Support social engagement and emotional well-being through attentive, person-centered interaction
- Document care accurately and promptly in facility records to ensure continuity and safety
- Follow infection control procedures and facility policies to maintain a safe environment
Qualifications
- Active GNA / Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification (required)
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings/immunizations
- Comfortable working with older adults and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- Dependable, punctual, and ready to represent the facility with professionalism
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic patient care
- Strong observational skills to notice subtle changes in resident condition
- Clear written and verbal communication for accurate documentation and handoffs
- Basic infection control, safe patient handling, and fall-prevention awareness
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with residents and families
