Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Perform vital signs checks and observe residents for changes in condition
- Assist nursing team with safe transfers and mobility support
- Document care accurately and communicate observations to nurses and families
- Support mealtime assistance and monitor nutritional intake
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Build meaningful relationships with residents to promote dignity and comfort
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification or equivalent (state-recognized) — your core credential
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic bedside manner
- Ability to pass facility background checks and required screenings
- Flexible attitude and a teamwork-first approach
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting) with respect and safety
- Comfortable taking and recording vital signs accurately
- Basic knowledge of infection control and wound observation
- Familiarity with charting and reporting changes to licensed staff
- Good time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
- Person-centered care approach and strong interpersonal skills
