Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
- Assist with daily living activities including bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Support mealtime assistance and safe feeding practices as needed
- Document resident care accurately and maintain clear communication with the care team
- Promote a safe, clean and respectful environment tailored to older adults
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification or equivalent in the state where you will work
- Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain promptly
- Background check, TB test and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
- Comfortable working with older adults and a team-oriented, patient approach
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics preferred but new grads are welcome to apply
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and dignity-centered practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for resident and family interactions
- Basic charting and documentation skills
- Safe patient handling and mobility assistance techniques
- Ability to follow care plans and effectively communicate observations to RNs/LPNs
