Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric patients, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
• Support mobility and safe transfers while promoting patient independence and dignity
• Monitor and report changes in patients’ physical or emotional condition to the nursing team
• Assist with meal setup and feeding, following dietary and safety instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation to keep the care team informed
• Follow infection control standards and safety protocols to protect patients and staff
• Engage patients in meaningful interactions to support emotional well-being and socialization

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or required per facility
• State-required clearance: background check, TB test, and up-to-date immunizations
• Previous experience working with geriatric patients or in long-term care preferred
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Ability to pass facility onboarding and orientation checks

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completed GNA training program and active GNA certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and safe patient handling techniques
• Comfortable with basic clinical tasks: vital signs, feeding assistance, ambulation support
• Familiarity with infection control practices and patient safety standards
• Good documentation habits and basic computer/EHR navigation skills
• Compassionate bedside manner and the ability to de-escalate stressful situations
• Time management and teamwork skills to keep shift flow smooth
