Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Monitor and record vital signs, changes in condition, and behavioral observations accurately and promptly
• Support safe transfers and positioning to promote resident comfort and prevent falls
• Assist nursing staff with routine tasks and follow care plans to ensure continuity of care
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families through respectful communication and emotional support
• Maintain clean, safe resident environments and follow infection control best practices
• Document care thoroughly and communicate changes to nursing leadership during handoff

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent in Maryland (or eligibility to obtain)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Demonstrated experience working with older adults preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills are welcome
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and meet facility immunization requirements
• Compassionate bedside manner, strong observation skills, and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and providing person-centered geriatric care
• Proficient at taking and documenting vital signs and recognizing changes in condition
• Knowledge of infection control practices, safe lifting/transfer techniques, and fall prevention
• Comfortable with basic electronic or paper charting and clear verbal handoffs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with residents, families, and staff
