Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, promoting dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Support rehabilitation activities in the Doctor's Rehab area by following care plans and therapist guidance
- Monitor, document, and promptly report changes in resident condition to the nursing team
- Contribute to a safe, clean environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and support staff to deliver coordinated, person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification required
- Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent training
- Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehab settings preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-focused attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited GNA program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Practical knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) assistance
- Safe patient transfer and mobility techniques
- Basic clinical observations such as taking vitals and recognizing changes
- Infection control and safety best practices
- Clear documentation and basic electronic charting familiarity
- Teamwork, time management, and compassionate bedside manner
